Verizon launched a new campaign on Monday to let users know that the company's network is being freed up in a big way, giving users faster access to data on their smartphones and tablets.
The initiative is called XLTE, an extra-fast version of LTE, which is the latest fourth-generation network technology.
The company has been working to improve the speed on its network. In 2012, it purchased a large amount of spectrum from cable providers, including CNBC owner Comcast, Time Warner Cable and Cox. Last year, it began upgrading its LTE cell sites with new equipment so that it could use that spectrum to speed up data on the network and give customers access to XLTE, according to The New York Times.
