Relations between China and its Asian neighbors have worsened since Beijing declared an "Air Defense Identification Zone" in the East China Sea in November.

The zone covers territory claimed by China, Japan, Taiwan and South Korea and came under fire from Washington officials.

Southeast Asian nations joined the tirade of anti-China rhetoric at the beginning of the year when Beijing announced rules requiring foreign fishing vessels to obtain approval to enter waters under its jurisdiction in the South China Sea, a popular maritime route for the region.
