Dogfish Head founder sets sail to promote brewery's inn

Dogfish Head Craft Brewery Founder and President Sam Calagione is setting off to sea.

Calagione is embarking on a 600-mile journey from Delaware to Maine aboard a 19-foot Boston Whaler with his teenage son to celebrate the opening of the Dogfish Inn and raise money and awareness for The Nature Conservancy.

Along the way Calagione will make stops in Atlantic City, New Jersey; Manhattan; Block Island, Rhode Island; Boston and Portland, Maine, to host beer-themed dinners. The final stop will be Dogfish Head, Maine, the place where Calagione spent his summers as a child and for which his brewery is named.

During his multicity trip, Calagione will be pouring Pennsylvania Tuxedo, a pale ale brewed with spruce tips, wheat and rye in collaboration with American apparel-maker Woolrich. The beer is named after the "head-to-toe red-and-black wool outfits that woodsmen wear in Pennsylvania."

The partnership between the two companies also includes a line of nautical-inspired clothing.

Opening in July, the Dogfish Inn is a 16-room hotel located in Lewes, Delaware, that is being described as a "home base for beer geeks and beach lovers."
