Dow 17,000: The best-performing sectors of late

The Dow Jones industrial average flirted with 17,000 for the first time on Friday, just 7 months after closing above 16,000 for the first time.

Over that time, the energy sector has led the pack, rising more than 14 percent. Telecoms have lagged, gaining just 1.3 percent since Nov. 21.
