Pumpkin beer? In July?

Nothing says "Happy Fourth of July" like…pumpkin beer?

With each passing year, seasonal beers are hitting the shelves earlier and earlier, a phenomenon known in the beer world as "seasonal creep."

Now it appears as if we already have our first pumpkin beer release of 2014.

According to Beerpulse.com, Southern Tier Brewing is already rolling out its seasonal pumpkin beer release, Pumking Imperial Ale.

Southern Tier is often the first to market with its pumpkin seasonal beer, the availability of which is listed on the brewery's website as a "mid-July" release.

Ironically, part of the description for Pumking reads: "All Hallows Eve is a time of the year when spirits can make contact with the physical world, and when magic is most potent. It is thought we harness this magic to brew our powerful pumpkin ale."

Now, a full four months ahead of the Oct. 31 Halloween holiday, beer drinkers will have the chance to add a little bit of fall to their Fourth of July BBQ.
