Verizon stock jumps after CEO's remarks

Verizon shares jumped more than 1 percent on Thursday after CEO Lowell McAdam divulged parts of the company's second-quarter results in an interview with CNBC.

Verizon added more than 1.4 million subscribers and saw growth in tablets and smartphones, McAdam told CNBC's Kayla Tausche. The company "delivered margins that were consistent with what [it has] done over the last several quarters," he said.

"Second quarter is very strong for us, and I think it's an indication that the industry is very strong," McAdam said.
