Atari introduces LGBT-themed mobile game

In its push to stay relevant, Atari is making strides to court diversity in the gaming market.

The video game company recently released PrideFest, a mobile game tailored to the LGBT community, Yahoo reported. Players create a float for Pride celebrations (which U.S. cities usually hold in June), with the ultimate goal of keeping the city happy.

"Our mission is to deliver a fun and engaging game for the LGBT community that celebrates equality and diversity," Atari CEO Frederic Chesnais told Yahoo.

The struggling company emerged from its most recent bankruptcy filing last year and began to focus on mobile gaming and "rapidly growing markets," Yahoo wrote. Chesnais told Yahoo that the LGBT community plays a significant role in the gaming market, but added the game would have to appeal to wider demographics, as well.
