Amazon quietly releases mobile payments app

Source: Google Play

With no fanfare, Amazon has released its own payment app, called Amazon Wallet.

The app was recently released in beta form on Google Play (and was spotted by Engadget). Much like similar apps from Google and Apple, it's designed to scan and keep all of your gift cards, membership cards, and loyalty programs and parks them in cyberspace for easy access.

Naturally, the app also links to your Amazon account. No word on when the app will come out of beta.
