CNBC Launches Access: Africa

LONDON and SINGAPORE, 23 July 2014– CNBC, First in Business Worldwide, today announced the start of a new series Access: Africa. The new half-hour programme will spotlight the people shaping the region's economy and speak with the power makers within African business and politics.

Each month Access: Africa will sit down with heads of state, top CEOs, business leaders, entrepreneurs and philanthropists, to discuss the key business trends and investment opportunities. The series will get to the heart of Africa's growth story, taking a close look at a number of key sectors including aviation, mining, resources, finance and manufacturing.

John Casey, Senior Vice President of News and Programming for CNBC International said, "Access: Africa will speak with the key people shaping the continent's economic and political landscape, examining the investment opportunities and challenges that this continent presents."

Access: Africa will be presented by CNBC's Yousef Gamal El-Din and Hadley Gamble. The first programme will premiere on Wednesday, 23rd July at 10.30pm BST (11.30pm CET) and will air monthly across Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific, where the programme will air on Saturday, 26th July at 12:30pm (SIN/HK) / 10:30pm (SYD); the programme will also air on CNBC World in the United States.

The series kicks off with an exclusive interview by CNBC's Yousef Gamal El-Din, with Ethiopia's Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn who talks about tackling poverty, reducing the country's dependency on foreign aid and on his plans for the structural renovation of the country through attracting more investment. August's episode will feature an in-depth interview with the CEO of Ethiopian Airlines, Tewolde Gebremariam.
