Instead, the tech giant is not aiming to launch the product until next year in part because cable companies are "dragging their heels" and the industry is watching the pending Comcast-Time Warner Cable merger, The Information reported. "All in all, behind the scenes, everyone is pointing fingers, and it remains unclear if and when Apple's grand vision for consolidating all video watching, along with apps and gaming, might see the light of day," The Information wrote.
News broke in March that Comcast was in early stage discussions with Apple about a TV partnership. But the Cupertino, California-based company is "pursuing piecemeal steps such as improvements to its $99 Apple TV box, including letting cable subscribers watch shows through apps for particular channels such as CNBC and Fox," The Information wrote.
A Comcast spokeswoman and an Apple spokesman declined to comment to The Information.
