After-hours buzz: Alcoa, General Motors, Yahoo & more

Check out which companies are making headlines after the bell Monday:

Alcoa - The miner fell in after-hours trading after saying it had started an underwritten public offering of up to 28.75 million shares.

General Motors - The car manufacturer rose in after-hours trading after the attorney overseeing a fund to compensate the families of victims killed in accidents related to faulty ignition switches said there are at least 19 eligible claims.

NII Holdings - The provider of mobile-communication services jumped in after-hours trading after it said it had begun Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection proceedings.

Yahoo - The search engine, which holds a 23 percent stake in Alibaba, gained in after-hours trading as the Chinese e-commerce company reportedly hiked its initial public offering range to $66 to $68 a share.
