TCL Roku TV unboxing: First impressions

It comes as no surprise that another smart TV is being offered to consumers, but this one is aiming to simplify the streaming experience for everyone.

The TCL Roku TV has a full HD display and includes 3 HDMI ports, various component hookups and a dual-band Wi-Fi.

Users can choose over 1,700 streaming channels on the Roku TV and can use the "Roku Search" for finding more entertainment across the top 13 channels. They are also able to personalize their Roku TV home screen to quickly access their favorites.

The smart TV comes with a simple remote control that only features 20 buttons and does not include an input button.

There is also a Roku Remote app that is available for both iOS and Android devices. With a smartphone, a user can navigate through channels and adjust the volume. Just as long as a user is connected to Wi-Fi, they can also use the "cast button" to share video, photos, music and even YouTube videos from their smartphones to their Roku TV.

The TV, which is now available for purchase, comes in four different sizes: 32-inch, 40-inch, 48-inch and 55-inch and is priced at $229 to about $500 (depending on size).

The Roku TV will still have to compete against popular TV brands such as Samsung and LG Electronics.
