Protesters barge into Peter Thiel speech

An appearance by PayPal co-founder and venture capitalist Peter Thiel was cut short at UC, Berkeley, by angry protesters.

It was in a fifth straight night of demonstrations in California over the decisions by grand juries in Ferguson, Missouri, and Staten Island, New York, not to indict white officers responsible for the deaths of unarmed black men.

The often outspoken Thiel had already given his keynote address at Wednesday night's event, and according to the Daily Californian he was answering a question about whether political activism was worth risking a decrease in worker productivity when protesters who were pounding on the doors burst into the auditorium.

"This is really a classic Berkeley event today. This is so cool," said Thiel, according to Business Insider.

BI also reported that protesters held up signs of "Ferguson" and "Black lives matter." Some shouted, "NSA's got to go!"

The crowd, according to BI, booed the protesters and shouted "Peter Thiel matters!" But Thiel, who was also an early investor in Facebook, eventually left the stage and the event ended early.
