Cruise lovers, say hello to one of the swankiest ships ever to set sail.
Recalling television's iconic "Love Boat," Regent Seven Seas cruise line unveiled this week what it boasts will be "the most luxurious ship" ever built. As one might expect, the price of admission isn't cheap.
When it hits the high seas in July 2016, the opulent 750 passenger Seven Seas Explorer will feature a host of lavish amenities—the centerpiece of which is a more than 3,700 square foot double occupancy "Regent Suite" that will cost a whopping $5,000 per night per person, or $10,000 for a couple, based on the ship's double occupancy rate.
That's multiples higher than the daily rate for a stay in the penthouse suite of New York's Waldorf Astoria, one of New York's most exclusive hotels—–yet still a bargain when compared to the $45,000 price tag at the Four Seasons Ty Warner Penthouse.
Despite the steep price, parent company Norwegian Cruise Lines says it already has people lined up to book when bookings open in February. The 56,000 ton ocean liner will also be the roomiest of its size in the cruise industry, according to the company.
"We wanted to redefine the overall luxury vacation market with Seven Seas Explorer," said Frank Del Rio, newly appointed chief executive officer for Norwegian, who called the vessel "the most luxurious ship ever built."

A big draw is the 2-bedroom suite, which even Regent's top brass recently acknowledged was "over the top."
Nevertheless, Regent is going out of its way to make sure guests get their money's worth. The cruise line provides a limousine transfer from the passenger's home to the airport.
Once they arrive, people who pay for the cavernous suite will be treated to a master bathroom spa that has all the luxuries of the Canyon Ranch Spa Club—without ever leaving the suite. Regent Suite dwellers also get complementary in-suite spa treatments.
The Seven Seas Explorer also features a spa-retreat, a state-of-the-art media center, and an outdoor, glass-enclosed sitting area that will provide unobstructed panoramic views of the sea. Analysts believe the vessel might boost Regent's brand—and its trip prices.
"This new ship can help raise brand awareness with the opulence that it is offering its guests, which in turn could allow Regent Seven Seas to increase prices faster than the Norwegian Cruise Lines brand due to the different experience that it offers its guests" Morningstar cruise industry analyst Jaime Katz told CNBC.
The Seven Seas Explorer's maiden voyage will be a 14-night sailing from Monte Carlo to Venice.
