Google image recognition software makes crazy art

Source: Google

The image above was made by feeding in pictures of random "white noise" into Google's image recognition software—the same type of technology that allows computers to identify faces, objects and locations in photos. It turns out the artificial intelligence that underpins the system can also be used to make stunning, surreal art, as discussed in an article in The Guardian.

A team of researchers at the technology company tried different experiments with the program and showed off the work on the company's research blog. They did things such as feeding the same image through the program several times, or asking the program to try to identify objects in a blur of black and white pixels (the aforementioned "white noise" seen on TV screens that have no signal.) The results are quite psychedelic. (Tweet This)
