    MURRAY HILL, N.J. _ C.R. Bard Inc. on Thursday reported a loss of $54.7 million in its second quarter. The average estimate of 12 analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $2.17 per share. C.R. Bard shares have climbed nearly 8 percent since the beginning of the year, while the Standard& Poor's 500 index has risen 2 percent.
