NEW YORK, June 12- U.S. stock index futures pointed to a flat open on Thursday as a round of disappointing data gave investors few reasons to buy, even after the S&P 500' s biggest one-day drop in three weeks.

  • June 12- Geron Corp said the U.S. Food and Drug Administration lifted a partial clinical hold on a study testing its drug for myelofibrosis, a type of blood cancer, sending its shares soaring about 31 percent in premarket trading. Patient enrollment in the trial, sponsored by Mayo Clinic, was halted in March over concerns of liver toxicity.

NEW YORK, June 12- U.S. stock index futures were flat on Thursday as investors looked ahead to data on retail sales and the labor market, taking a pause after the S&P 500' s biggest one-day drop in three weeks. *There could be catalysts at 8:30 a.m., with the release of retail sales and jobless claims data.

  • June 12- Geron Corp said the U.S. Food and Drug Administration lifted a partial clinical hold on a study testing its blood cancer drug, imetelstat, sending its shares soaring about 34 percent in premarket trading. Patient enrollments in the trial, sponsored by Mayo Clinic, were halted in March over concerns of liver damage.

  • The halt announced on Thursday was for enrollments in a trial sponsored by Mayo Clinic, and comes a week after the FDA ordered Geron to cease company-sponsored trials of the drug over similar concerns. The FDA on March 12 had ordered a complete halt to trials that were testing imetelstat to treat thrombocythemia and multiple myeloma, two forms of blood cancer.

    In a letter to Geron shareholders, BioTime suggests two deals that would form a new publicly traded company owning Geron's stem cell assets with some of BioTime's.
