  • SAN FRANCISCO, July 9- Zynga Inc has appointed Regina Dugan, a vice president of engineering at Google, to its board, the online gaming company said on Wednesday. In a blog post, Zynga Chief Executive Officer Don Mattrick said that Dugan's expertise would help Zynga offer "next generation entertainment experiences that span categories, platforms and devices."

    PALO ALTO, Calif.-- Shares of Varian Medical Systems Inc. jumped 13 percent in afterhours trading Thursday after the company reported a 20 percent rise in its fourth-quarter profit fueled by higher device sales. Varian reported net income of $120.2 million, or $1.08 per share, up from $101 million, or 87 cents per share, in the prior year period.
