    NEW YORK— Shares of Williams-Sonoma slid Thursday, a day after after the home furnishings retailer reported mixed second-quarter results and gave a disappointing third-quarter forecast. The company behind the Williams-Sonoma, Pottery Barn and West Elm brands said its operating margins fell, and analysts said they weren't as good as expected.

    SAN FRANCISCO _ Williams-Sonoma Inc. on Wednesday reported fiscal second-quarter earnings of $53.7 million. For the current quarter ending in November, Williams-Sonoma said it expects revenue in the range of $1.19 billion to $1.22 billion. Analysts surveyed by Zacks had expected revenue of $1.22 billion.
