NEW YORK (Reuters) - Playboy Enterprises Inc will outsource all its publishing operations except for editorial to American Media Inc in a bid to cut costs and return its namesake magazine to profitability in two years.

Private equity firm Oak Hill Capital Partners said Wednesday that a media report indicating that it is interested in buying the men's magazine publisher are untrue.

Playboy Enterprises Inc is in talks with Jim Griffiths, a former entertainment president at the company, and private equity firm Golden Gate Capital, to sell itself for about $300 million, a source familiar with the matter said Friday.

Playboy Enterprises is in preliminary talks to sell itself to Iconix Brand Group, people familiar with the matter said.
