



Martin Soong is one of Asia's best-known business television journalists. He is a co-anchor of CNBC's trademark morning program "Squawk Box (Asia)," which focuses on what viewers need to know after the markets close in the U.S. and before the markets open in Asia.
Based in the network's regional headquarters in Singapore, Soong was part of the team that launched Asia Business News in 1993 (prior to the channel's merger with CNBC in 1997). During his distinguished tenure, Martin has anchored almost all of CNBC's flagship business shows.
Soong has won many prominent awards, including the Best News and Current Affairs Presenter Award at the Asian Television Awards in 1996 and 1998, and Best News Anchor at the 2007 Asian Television Awards. He also won the Silver World Medal for Best News Anchor in the 1997 New York Festivals of International Television Programming and Promotion, and received a Finalist Certificate at the 2007 Awards.
With over 20 years of industry experience, Soong has covered many major stories from across Asia and interviewed many key political leaders and CEOs, including former Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad, Singapore's Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew and Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong, former South Korean President Kim Dae Jung, Philippine President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, Lester Thurow of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and author Kenichi Ohmae.
