



Nicholas Hastings is the senior foreign exchange correspondent for Dow Jones Newswires and is based in London. For several years he has written the newswires' "Forex Focus" column, which gives insight on where major currencies are headed. While his main beat is the foreign exchange market, he also helps cover British economics and politics, and Group of Seven policy. He appears daily on CNBC Europe and is a contributor on CNBC World's "Foreign Exchange" program.
In 1982, Hastings joined Dow Jones as a reporter in London for the AP-Dow Jones newswires. During his years with the newswires, he has done general equity and corporate coverage, international debt reporting and participated in the launch of the International Petroleum Wire. He next covered the British gilt and sterling debt market and has done other fixed income reporting for the Capital Markets Report newswire.
Hastings taught biology at St. Michael's College in Belize from 1978 to 1980. He moved to London in1980 and worked as a news assistant for the New York Times until 1982.
A native of Belize, Hastings attended St. John's College in Belize. He received a Bachelor of Science degree, with honors, in biology from the University of London.
