"Make Green Pay" took a look at how global markets can be harnessed to accelerate the shift towards using more sustainable sources of energy. CNBC's Maria Bartiromo moderated a panel of business leaders and politicians from around the world as they explored ways to motivate capital market players.
Panellists focused on three areas of discussion:
o Nuclear energy and cleaner coal are the only viable alternatives to oil
o Markets are superior to regulation in leading corporations towards "greener" operations
o A global carbon tax would do more harm than good

James Rogers James Rogers is a member of the Nuclear Energy Institute's executive committee, and chairman of the Edison Electric Institute. He was recently appointed Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Duke Energy.
Vinod Khosla In 1982, Vinod Khosla was one of the founders of Sun Microsystems. In the year 2004, he founded Khosla Ventures, a firm which offers strategic advice and capital to entrepreneurs.
Jose Goldemberg Professor Jose Goldemberg was a Brazilian government minister in the early nineties. Until December 2006, he was the environment minister for the State of Sao Paolo. He is now based at the University of Sao Paulo.
Daniel Esty Professor Daniel Esty has written a number of books on environmental policy. Most recently, he co-authored the book "Green to Gold." He is currently the Hill House Professor at Yale University.
Reverend Nicolas Frances MBE Reverend Nicholas Frances began his career in the hotel business. Later he became ordained as an Anglican priest. In 2004, he founded Easy Being Green, a company which offers advice on emissions reduction.
Sir Nicholas Stern Sir Nicholas Stern was the Chief Economist of the World Bank until 2003. He then ran the UK government's Economic Service. In October 2006, he published the Stern Review on the Economics of Climate Change.
