Circuit City Stores [CC  Loading...      ()   ] Chief Financial Officer Michael Foss will leave the home-electronics retailer in April to go work as chief financial officer of privately held Petco Animal Supplies.

Circuit City said Friday it has begun a search for a replacement.

Foss, 49, will remain on the Circuit City board until the annual meeting in June. He has been with the retailer for three and a half years.

Earlier this month, Circuit City announced plans to close stores and shake up its merchandising team in a move to improve its financial performance after suffering through a grueling price war on flat-panel television sets.
