R.R. Donnelley Narrows Fourth-Quarter Loss

Printing services company R.R. Donnelleyon Tuesday said its fourth-quarter loss narrowed as sales increased and restructuring and impairment charges fell.

The net loss shrank to $1.2 million, or 1 cent a share, from $162.5 million, or 75 cents a share, a year earlier.

The net results included $168.3 million in restructuring and impairment charges compared with $377.7 million in the year-ago period.

Excluding one-time items, earnings from continuing operations were $153.6 million, or 71 cents a share, ahead of the 65 cents forecast by analysts polled by Reuters Estimates.

Looking ahead, R.R. Donnelley said it is expecting earnings from continuing operations to be in the range of $2.70 to $2.75 a share before one-time items, compared with analysts' forecast of $2.73 a share.
