Limited Brands February Sales Rise 3%

Apparel retailer Limited Brands said Thursday its same-store sales, or sales at stores open at least a year, a widely watched performance gauge, grew just 3% in February, in line with the company's revised expectations but below initial guidance.

Analysts surveyed by Thomson Financial expected same-store sales to grow 4%. Limited Brands had warned bad weather affected Valentine's Day sales at its Victoria's Secret and Bath & Body Works chains.

Total sales for the four-week period ended March 3 grew 15% to $730.5 million, from $635.8 million a year ago.

Limited Brands operates Victoria's Secret, Bath & Body Works, C.O. Bigelow, Express, Limited Stores and other stores.
