Aetna Backs First-Quarter, 2007 Forecasts

Health insurer Aetna said in a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission that it will reaffirm its earnings outlook during phone calls with analysts and investors on Friday.

The company forecasts operating earnings of 77 cents a share for the first quarter, and $3.30 a share for the year. Aetna first set the current outlook in early February.

Analysts surveyed by Thomson Financial expect earnings per share of 77 cents for the quarter, and $3.29 for the year.

Aetna shares closed Thursday at $44.04 on the New York Stock Exchange.
