JEFFREY JAMES

In his career spanning more than 20 years, Jeffrey James is a seasoned international journalist who has worked extensively in Australia, Asia and Europe.  Based in Sydney, he anchors CNBC’s Squawk Australia, a concise one-hour daily live business and financial news program with the mission of delivering big Australian stories with regional and global insight and analysis, aired 8 am Mondays – Fridays.  He will also serve as an Australian-based correspondent, providing live reports on global financial markets activity, corporate and political news.  

Jeffrey started his broadcast journalism career in Australia 23 years ago – having worked behind the camera on the ABC TV ‘Mike Walsh’ interview series and Channel 9’s ‘Midday with Ray Martin’ daily talk variety show, as well as presented for Newsfront, a primetime investigative current affairs program, with 2GB-Macquarie Network.  He was then an anchor with HK-TVB, based in Hong Kong, presenting News at 7.30, News Round-up and Financial News for the network’s Pearl Channel.

He has also anchored the Australia Television News and the Money Series, a personal finance series for TVNZ, based in New Zealand.

For 6 years, Jeffrey anchored business news for DW-TV Germany.  Deutsche Welle is Germany’s world service television news channel in English rebroadcast on 4,000 + channels worldwide.  He was based in Berlin and became one of the network’s most popular presenters.

Apart from his extensive on air experience, Jeffrey has also had immense experience behind the camera.  He has originated and developed a number of docu-dramas and television series, in Australia, New Zealand and Ireland.
