CNBC Europe is the Fastest Growing Pan-Europe TV Channel, According to EMS 2005

CNBC Europe, the leading pan-European financial and business TV channel, has increased its reach across all measures in the latest EMS 2004 survey, making it the most watched business and financial channel in Europe. Indeed, it is the fastest growing pan-European TV channel for daily and weekly viewing.

  • Daily viewers up 37% to 703,000
  • Weekly viewers up 19% to 2.75 million
  • Monthly viewers up 11% to 5.8 million
  • Annual viewers up 17% to 9.5 million

CNBC Europe says that these figures represent a significant step change in the response of viewers to the channel over the past year, particularly when compared with other news channels.

Mick Buckley, President and CEO, CNBC Europe says: “This is an extremely positive result for us. The data sets us apart from other pan-regional channels and we believe underlines the success of our programming strategy, which has seen us concentrate on the bringing more CEO interviews to the channel over the past year and focusing on industry events as ‘appointment to view’ events.

The EMS 2005 survey shows that, when compared with any other pan-European business and financial channel, CNBC Europe is growing at 5 times the rate, with 1.8 million more viewers watching CNBC Europe each month.

This growth can be attributed to more C-class executives, IT decision makers and business travelers choosing to watch the channel and the success of the channel in terms of building programming events.

CNBC Europe’s programme strategy is built around key business events during the day, including the opening and closing bells of Europe and the US. In addition, the past year has seen the channel focus on industry events such as The World Economic Forum, CeBIT, 3GSM World Congress and the International Advertising Festival. These events serve as important appointment to view programming.

The channel has also introduced new programme strands designed to deliver specialist industry sector audiences, for example the current series of Media Talk, focusing on the media industry, is on air for its second series.
