CNBC Expands in Asia Pacific through Partnership with Chosun in Korea
Singapore, 10 April 2007 – CNBC, First in Business Worldwide, expands its presence in the Asia Pacific region by establishing a partnership with Digital Chosun Ltd, the owner of largest online media platform in Korea, chosun.com, and Business&, a new dedicated business and financial news channel in Korea (collectively known as “Chosun”).
Digital Chosun Ltd, an entity of the Chosun Daily Group of Companies, is a pioneer in the new media market in Korea. The successful launch of Business& will contribute to media convergence, in synergy with other media platforms of Chosun Daily, including its print and online platforms, which are already considered market leaders in their respective categories.
CNBC will be working in partnership with both Business&, the broadcasting network and the online newspaper, chosun.com.
Chosun and CNBC seek to build a long-term relationship centered on content distribution, brand growth, and a value-driven combination of resources.
The two organizations plan to work closely on a number of different initiatives:
a. Develop and distribute either party’s programs on their respective television networks, CNBC and Business&.
b. Exchange of editorial resources for all the different media distribution platforms
c. Offer integrated online distribution, where Chosun will use CNBC and CNBC.com website as its English language provider of business news and information, and CNBC will prominently feature the chosun.com portal on CNBC’s regional website, which is linked to the CNBC.com website.
“Chosun has a long standing tradition of journalistic integrity and excellence in Korea, which ties in perfectly with the quality of content and caliber of CNBC,” says Jeremy Pink, President and Managing Director, CNBC Asia Pacific. ”Our partnership with Chosun enables us to expand our presence into Korea, and we look forward to a long term mutually beneficial collaboration with them.”
“CNBC is the world leader in business news, and our partnership allows us to tap into their expertise in business and financial news, enhancing the quality of content delivered to our premier audiences in Korea,” says Mr. Chan Kim, President, Digital Chosun. “We look forward to working more closely with CNBC to strengthen our partnership further.”
“CNBC would also like to congratulate Chosun on the launch of Business&, the first dedicated business and financial news channel in Korea,” Pink concludes.
