CNBC Senior Correspondent Scott Cohn is in Namibia, searching for former Comverse Technology CEO Jacob "Kobi" Alexander, who faces charges in the United States that he orchestrated a massive options backdating scheme. Alexander is free on bail and continues to fight extradition to the United States. He is scheduled to appear in a Namibian court Friday, June 8.

In an exclusive interview, available in its entirety on this page, Cohn spoke with Richard Metcalfe, Alexander's lawyer in Namibia. They stood near a low-income housing project that Alexander is funding. Critics say he's spending millions in an attempt to buy his way into the good graces of the Namibian government so he can stay. Metcalfe says that Alexander is simply using "his own money" to display the "generous spirit" that has always been "part of his psyche."
