Delphi Makes Pension Payment: Filing
Delphi said in a regulatory filing Friday that it contributed about $48 million to its U.S. pension plans.
The amount represents the part of the pension contribution related to services rendered by Delphi employees in the second quarter of 2007, the auto supplier said in a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
Troy, Mich.-based Delphi, which is operating under bankruptcy protection, said a minimum funding payment of about $309 million had been due on Friday. But as allowed under bankruptcy rules, Delphi said it only paid the part of the contribution attributable to post-bankruptcy-petition service.
The unpaid part of the minimum funding payments remains payable as a claim against Delphi and will be determined in its plan of reorganization with other claims, the company said.
