Exxon Mobil Delays Work on Louisiana Gasoline Unit
Exxon Mobilhas delayed work on the 71,600 barrel per day gasoline-making fluid catalytic cracking unit at its 188,160 barrel per day refinery in Chalmette, La., trade sources said on Tuesday.
The work, which the oil giant planned to begin on Aug. 20, is now scheduled to start in the first week of September, traders said.
A company spokeswoman was not immediately available to comment on the work at the refinery, which is a joint venture between Exxon Mobil
In other industry news, Hurricane Dean, which hit Mexico's Caribbean coast on Tuesday as a Category 5 event -- the most intense Atlantic storm to make landfall in 20 years -- has since weakened and been downgraded to a Category 1 storm.
As a Category 1 storm, it has maximum sustained winds of 85 miles per hour; earlier, Dean had packed winds near 165 miles per hour. Initially, it was feared that Dean might wreak havoc on oil facilities along Mexican and Texas coasts, but the current path has reportedly eased those worries.
