Hyundai Motor Group chief Chung Mong-koo was on Thursday handed a 3-year sentence suspended for 5 years by a South Korean appeals court, which upheld a fraud conviction by a lower court earlier this year.

Chung was in February found guilty of breach of trust, embezzlement of company money and setting up slush funds, and sentenced to a three-year jail term by a Seoul lower court.

Prosecutors had sought a jail sentence of 6 years.
