Liz Claiborne Confirms Deal to Sell Four Brands

Liz Claiborne has agreed to sell four of its moderately priced brands to the U.S. arm of sourcing company Li & Fung, the companies said after U.S. markets closed Thursday.

The sale, which is expected to close in the fourth quarter, includes the trademarks and inventory of the Emma James, Intuitions, JH Collectibles and Tapemeasure brands.

Terms were not immediately disclosed.

Liz Claiborne, which is in the process of restructuring, also said it will discontinue its First Issue brand, sold exclusively at Sears Holding, by the end of 2007.
