Microsoft Lobbies Against Google's Purchase of DoubleClick

Microsoft has launched a campaign behind the scenes to persuade internet companies, advertisers and regulators to oppose Google's planned $3.1 billion acquisition of online advertising group DoubleClick, the Wall Street Journal reported.

The newspaper said Burson-Marsteller, a public relations retained by Microsoft, has approached more than 100 companies and organizations warning the deal will bolster's Google's strong presence in online advertising.

The Wall Street Journal said it has seen Burson's pitches.
