Rod from New Jersey
Rod writes, “Is there an ETF or an options strategy I can use to trade the US dollar?
Dylan Ratigan explains there are several ETFs which allow investors to trade the dollar including the CurrencyShares Euro Trust (FXE) which gets you long the euro, the CurrencyShares Canadian Dollar Trust (FXC) which gets you long the Canadian dollar and the CurrencyShares Japanese Yen Trust (FXY) which gets you long the yen.
Guy Adami thinks the best currency trade is Hewlett-Packard (HPQ).
Chris aka Dr. Doom
Chris writes, “Carl Icahn said it all. Finally a guest that knows what he is talking about. Forget short-term fluctuations. Look at fundamentals, unsustainable consumption, massive trade deficit, government and personal debt, crashing dollar, hyper-inflation. Should I short or sell equities and buy gold or silver?
Guy Adami tells Chris he shouldn’t short all his equities. And if he wants to be in gold, Guy says, “Do it at your own peril!”
Theresa from California
Theresa writes, “When calculating risk, how much weight should be given to the mystique a CEO carries, and the public perception that a company's success rides on that CEO's shoulders? Apple (AAPL) appears riskier to me for this reason, than Research In Motion (RIMM), or Garmin (GRMN).
Jeff Macke tells Theresa he likes CEOs with a cult following. Following that theory he recommends Theresa get long Oracle (ORCL) for Larry Ellison.
