The United Auto Workers union has set a Wednesday deadline for reaching a new labor agreement with Chrysler and has threatened to strike the automaker if a deal is not reached by that time.

The UAW, which has been in high-level talks with the No. 3 U.S. automaker since Friday, set a "strike target deadline" of 11 am New York time Wednesday, Chrysler spokeswoman Michele Tinson said Monday.
