MGM Mirage plans to announce a $5 billion project for a new resort and casino in Atlantic City, N.J. on Wednesday, in a move to expand its brand, the Wall Street Journal reported Wednesday.

The MGM Grand Atlantic City is expected to be completed in 2012 and will have 3,000 hotel rooms in three separate hotel towers connected by sky-bridges. A large casino and theater will help the resort "dominate the Atlantic City skyline," Jim Murren, president and chief operating officer of MGM Mirage told the Journal.

It will join other MGM resort-casinos in Las Vegas, Detroit, Macau, China and Connecticut.
