Its stock leaped almost 7 percent.
SAN ANTONIO (AP) _ Valero Energy Corp., the nation's largest independent oil refiner, said Tuesday its third-quarter profit dropped almost 21 percent from a year earlier, but the current quarter was starting to improve.
DALLAS (AP) _ Tenet Healthcare Corp. said Tuesday its third-quarter loss narrowed on higher prices and slower declines in patient admissions, and the chief executive said a turnaround was gaining traction.
SEATTLE (AP) _ Online jewelry retailer Blue Nile Inc. on Tuesday said its third-quarter profit rose 6 percent, as international sales rose.

WEST CHESTER, Ohio (AP) _ Medical device maker AtriCure Inc. said Tuesday its third-quarter loss narrowed nearly 18 percent on strong U.S sales of open-heart devices.
