Immediately after appointed to as the President of Hanwa Co., Ltd., I officially declared to concentrate to Hanwa's main business line.

Obtained special resolution at the Extraordinary Shareholders Meeting held in December, 1997 to have voluntary capital reduction through return of capital and first implementation was done in 1998 to buy 100 million shares. And the second voluntary capital reduction was approved at directors board meeting held in May, 1999 to buy further 80 million shares. This second reduction was done in August, 1999.
The purpose of these capital reduction were to restore the capital structure in a sound condition and to reduce the total issued shares to lower the impact of dividend payment in future.
