Entertainment companies. That’s what Jeff Macke thinks are the next to go. After the Vivendi/Activision (ATVI) deal, any video game company with earnings on its side is game, he said. Specifically, he would buy Take-Two (TTWO) or THQ (THQI) as potential takeover targets with market caps under $2 billion.
Guy Adami sees M&A chatter in the mining space. U.S. Steel (X) would be his pick for the next mining company to get bought.
On the news that a Japanese company is buying MGI Pharmaceuticals (MOGN), Pete Najarian thinks consolidation in Big Pharma could continue as those companies are on the prowl to fill their pipelines. Sanofi-Aventis (SNY) or Novartis (NVS) could be buyers since they’re based outside the U.S. and would benefit from the weak dollar.
In the energy space, Pete thinks Alpha Natural Resources (ANR) is the most likely takeover candidate on the heels of a similar takeover last week of a Canadian coal company.
