The Fast Money Misfires

Sometimes a stock is hot and other time it just burns. Following are the Fast Money misfires.

Guy Adami

On Monday December 10th the Negotiator thought he could get lucky with a retail drug play. He said, "Rite Aid (RAD). It is a lottery ticket but it will pay off." After a 12% drop, Rite Aid turned out to be anything but a winning ticket.

Despite the downturn Adami said he still likes this stock for its CEO and the acquisition of Brooks Eckerd.

Pete Najarian & Karen Finerman

On Tuesday December 11th both the Pit Boss and the Chairwoman expected to see healthy returns from a Biogen (BIIB) buyout. At the time Finerman said, “I hear Pfizer is taking a very hard look, and Merck is also in there, and one of the two will end up with it. Then Najarian added “When (options traders) start selling the back month it suggests a deal is imminent.

But Biogen’s pipeline of medicine wasn’t what the doctor ordered. The stock closed down with no deal on the table.

I’m convinced a buyer was seriously considering a Biogen acquisition earlier in the week, said Najarian, but it didn’t happen and the trade is over.

Dylan Ratigan

On Thursday December 13th the lights of our Times Square studio must have confused the Commissioner – who clearly believed he was live from London.

At the time he said “The forecast for the weekend is for a meter of snow. I was looking on the Google, they said there was going to be a meter, a foot. a yard, I mean.

At least Ratigan isn’t demanding to be paid in Euros.

* Macke is off the hook this week.
