Stock Picks In the Face of Recession

There are four areas where an investor can find recession protection, according to Eric Ross of Canaccord Adams. They are healthcare, recycling, organic foods, and high-performance technologies.

And there is a stock he likes in each area, he said in an interview on CNBC's "Squawk Box."

"People are still going to get into car accidents," he noted, whatever the economic situation. And so he likes LKQ .

And sleep problems are also insulated from the state of the economy. Hence, investors should look at ResMed , he suggested.

"The growth in the organic food market has been an absolute stunner and it looks like it will continue," so Ross suggested United Natural Foods as a good investor candidate.

Finally, Analog Devices was his suggestion for a specialized technology stock likely to do well regardless of the economy's state.
