Opening Glance: Utility company stocks open mixed

NEW YORK - Shares of utility companies were mostly trading lower Monday morning while the broader market rose modestly amid lower oil prices and a higher dollar.

Here's how some utilities are trading:

American Electric Power Co. Inc. fell 19 cents to $43.68

Pepco Holdings Inc. fell 5 cents to $25.51

Consolidated Edison Inc. fell 13 cents to $41.23

Southern Co. rose 12 cents to $36.41.
