NEW YORK - Household durables stocks were mixed Thursday morning as the broader market wobbled following better-than-expected June retail sales, and news that Dow Chemical Co. will acquire rival Rohm and Haas Co. in a deal worth more than $15 billion.

Black & Decker Corp. lost 8 cents to $55.39, after hitting a four-year low of $54.61.

Whirlpool Corp. fell $1.03, to $62.11.

Snap-on Inc. gained 16 cents to $50.48.

Stanley Works slipped 59 cents to $43.31.
