TD Ameritrade’s senior vice president in charge of its active trader group, Jay Pestricelli, monitors after-hours markets and joined Thursday’s show to update that ISRG was down a substantial 36% after the close even as it posted better-than-expected earnings.
He said the counterintuitive move could be because of a bearish call spread on the stock, but Karen Finerman said it could also be because the company, which is known for consistently beating its numbers and guiding higher, only reiterated guidance this time.
The bottom line, according to Pete Najarain, is that this company is a fantastic long-term story. Its core business, the DaVinci robotic surgery device, is the best in the industry and will continue to be. Don’t stress too much about this quarter, he said.
