When it comes to recommending green stocks for a John McCain presidency, the choices are fewer, Cramer said, because the Arizona Senator is notably less detailed about his environmental policies than the Democrats. However, you can be sure of one thing, and that’s McCain’s support of nuclear energy.
Nuclear is one of the biggest differences in energy policy between McCain and the Democrats. He’s in favor of building more plants and storing nuclear fuel. If McCain became president, Cramer expects that he will tap into the nuclear renaissance that’s happening all over the world – the same one that is yet to gain traction in the U.S. Cramer’s favorite nuclear play has been, and should continue to be if McCain is elected, Shaw Group [SGR

]. The company builds and maintains nuclear plants, so you can see how it would benefit if McCain won the White House and went forward with his proposals to build more nuclear facilities.

Comverge, the electricity management company that Cramer picked as a winner under a Democratic president, could score well under McCain as well because he’s talked of similar proposals to improve the country’s electrical grid. Call this one the bipartisan green winner.
The bottom line, though, is that the biggest victors if McCain wins the election could likely be the oil companies. And there’s no way to spin that into something green.
