A Yahoo-Google Ad Deal? Easily Undone

And the plot thickens!

Now there's word from the Wall Street Journal that Yahoo [YHOO  Loading...      ()   ] is seeking a deeper ad-sharing relationship with Google, in case Microsoft [MSFT  Loading...      ()   ] walks away from its unsolicited bid, or decides to go hostile. And news on this front could come as early as next week.

Couple the outsourcing of ads with Google [GOOG  Loading...      ()   ] and news earlier this week that Yahoo will outsource all telephony and messaging to Jajah, and you have to wonder where all this creativity has been these last three years.

Bottomline: Yahoo can do a deal with Google but it still doesn't eclipse the offer from Microsoft. And if Microsoft gains control of Yahoo, it can quickly unravel any deal with Google, if it chooses to, if only to appease "anti-trust concerns." The irony is palpable.
