Talk about someone who defied the odds and became hugely successful! Whitney Thompson, the winner of this season of America’s Top Model was the first plus-sized woman to win the contest. Some people said she’d never make it.
She made her mark on the hit show by standing out – gaining attention for being outspoken and extremely confident. "People always say you have to be stick-skinny, emaciated and unhealthy and I've kind of stood up for [being full-figured] my whole life," Thompson told the New York Post in her first post-victory interview. She’s now looking to be a role model for young girls, emphasizing that beauty is more than simply having an ultra-thin body type. “I have the purpose and drive and I’m trying to change the face of fashion and society….It starts with a single step.” She said.
